Clear Creek River

30 miles west of Denverfamily fun white water rafting

The Clear Creek River, the steepest raftable river in Colorado, has an average gradient of 67 feet per mile, and over 100 feet per mile on the advanced sections of the stream. This translates to more rapids per mile. This steep, narrow and technical river winds through the historic mining valley of Idaho Springs. This relatively small stream offers trips for fun loving beginners, adventurous intermediate rafters and the adrenaline junkie. The river is open for rafting from May through July and some years August.

This area boasts beautiful mountain scenery, with an abundance of wildlife. You can see muskrat, beaver, deer, bighorn sheep, and even an occasional Eagle.

The first major gold strike in Colorado was on January 7, 1859, in Idaho Springs by George Jackson. The gold strike brought many miners to the area, all in search of gold. Today, many flock to Idaho Springs and the surrounding area for many recreational activities as Clear Creek County is 80% Public Lands or National Forrest.

DURING THE WEEKS OF JUNE 26th THROUGH JULY 7th WE CHANGE OUR WEEK DAY TRIP TIMES TO WEEKEND TIME FRAMES FOR SOME OF OUR TRIPS. PLEASE CHECK THE BOOKING CALENDAR FOR EXACT TRIP DETAILS.

With five solid class IV rapids and more class three whitewater than we have space to mention, the Blast is waiting for those with good physical conditioning and an attitude for adventure. If you are active in your daily life the 'Blast' is the trip for you. Allow 3 hours for the trip.

Kamikaze (Advanced Half Day) - $74 Adults

One of our former guests refers to this trip as “the best darn whitewater around!”, and after braving the rapids of the Kamikaze trip you’ll understand why. Add another two miles of continuous (and we aren’t kidding!) ***class IV/III whitewater onto the Blast and you have an adventure that will bring you back over and over. If you’re on your toes you might have time to enjoy the scenery of the Front Range before you dive into your next rapid.

***The Kamikaze trip has a shortened availability because of water levels. Great Physical condition with endurance and previous rafting experience is suggested.

This is the most consistent whitewater available on the Front Range, and almost the state. If action is what you are after then this is for you. An adventure for the brave of heart! Be prepared for a workout.
