The weather is getting nicer and nicer, which means summer is just around the corner. It’s a good time for camping but the heat can make things a little difficult. To make sure you enjoy your trip, certain supplies need to make it in your backpack.

Pack These Items for Your Next Summer Camping Trip

Summer is a beautiful time of year, perfect for outdoor lovers. One of the perks is being able to enjoy nature without layers and layers of clothing. However, to make sure you have an enjoyable trip, there are some items you need to bring along. Be sure to add these items to your summer packing checklist:

The Right Bedding

Sleeping arrangements are key to enjoying a camping trip, especially during the summertime. Forget about sleeping bags, they are too hot for warm weather. Make sure you pack a lightweight sleeping pad, instead, and some light, cool bedding.

These are essential items for summer camping. Coolers are perfect to store food and drinks and keep them fresh. Try to keep them in the shade, to keep ice from melting too fast.

Tent with Good Ventilation

A closed off tent will turn into an oven. You need an airy one that will allow the hot air to escape. If you don’t already own one, consider getting a tent that has taped seams, a rain fly, and is resistant to wind, in addition to having good ventilation.

Bug Repellant

You can’t leave your home without insect repellant, particularly during this time of year. You want to make sure you stay bite-free throughout your trip.

Sun Block

Also a must. Overexposing to the sun can be harmful to your skin. Grab a bottle of good sunblock, at least 30 SPF and ideally, one that is water resistant, and also pack a hat to keep the sun out of your face.

Cool Clothing

There’s nothing worse than to be wearing the wrong clothes during an outdoor trip. You can be sure it will get hot outside, so you’ll need light and cool clothes that won’t trap moisture, like those made of synthetic fabrics.

Plenty of Water

Water bottles can be really heavy, so carrying many of them is not necessarily the best idea. However, you do need to remain hydrated. A good idea is to invest in a bottle of water that comes with a purifier which you can use in rivers and lakes, whenever clean water is not immediately available. If you’ll be at a campground, there will be clean water available.
